Note 1: Such patients should be bathed daily, but too sudden changes in water temperature should be avoided. Do not use medicated soaps or ointments. If necessary, glycerine soap can be used for bathing and coconut oil can be gently applied to the affected area, not rubbed.
Note 2: Itching around the anus may be due to worms, hemorrhoids, or soap buildup from improper cleansing. Itching of the external genitalia in women is often an early symptom of diabetes mellitus or vaginitis or due to improper cleaning after intercourse.
